Spring is here!

Kile loves playtime in the backyard!

We got a sandbox at a garage sale that proved a wise purchase!

Grass...yummy.

Jeff was being funny and typed up this sign long ago that says "I play for tips." Emma made a handwritten sign for him that says "My Dad wrcks for tipes!" How cute is that!!???

Kile likes to be pushed on his little lion and, fortunately, the second smallest member of our family is up to the task because it hurts mommy's back! He is only about 10 months in this picture...I'm doing some catch-up blogging!

THE BIRTHDAY BOY!!!

Kile turned one year old on July 11th. We were in Lincoln, Kansas, where Jeff was giving a talk. He was actually born on the day that Susanna, the pioneer mother featured in Jeff's first book, died during the Battle of Summit Springs. Nearly 100 people sang "Happy Birthday" to Kile after the talk, and he smiled and clapped his hands (that's his new thing whenever anyone sings). It was a wonderful day.

We stopped to get a bite to eat in Hays, Kansas, and Kile decided after being restrained in the carseat for so long to camp out underneath the highchair. His shirt aptly says "Mr. Mischief."

Daddy loves to make Kile giggle!

Kile better get used to making his own fun at fthe many orts of the west! This building used to be officer's quarters at Fort Harker.

Somebody got into the playing cards in the kitchen. I think he knows he's been caught!

Around our home in Roxborough...

Konnor's newfound passion...BASKETBALL! I told him I'd take an action shot and post it on the blog. He had a blast at b-ball camp.

Emma thought it would be funny to join Kile in the baby swings since she is so skinny and could fit. Our home is located behind the grove of trees in the back of the picture. There is actually a long, steep hill right behind these swings on which sledding is absolutely a BLAST!

This is our first go at filling the pool this summer. It was cold but the kids had fun.

Here is Konnor and Emma posing in front of our house. Emma loves to ride her scooter while Konnor plays basketball. The cul-de-sac provides the kids much entertainment when the neighbor kids come out to play...and I don't have to worry as much about traffic! We love our cul-de-sac!

New York City & Newport

Kile absolutely loves the water and so does Daddy.

We took a break in Central park to get something to drink and relax after a long walk and day at the Natural History Museum.

Konnor & Emma both enjoyed the pool at the hotel in Newport.

This is on the ferry to Ellis Island; we passed the Statue of Liberty on the way.

The latest with Emma

Emma got a new haircut last night. We had it layered in the back more to help thicken up what hair she does have and (hopefully) to help it grow in healthy and full. She loves it. She was desperate to know if her teacher would recognize her after her transformation at the salon! Too cute, huh?

Emma was also one of a handful of students chosen to represent her school at a district-wide art show. Her "masterpiece" is the watercolor just above her head featuring the branches with berries on them. She informed me that she did so well because her pinky fingers were "just the perfect size" to make the berries look real. We will get to keep it after the show and plan to frame it for her room. Konnor was in an art show when he was in first grade, too, and we have his artwork hanging up as well!

More!

I had to take a picture of Konnor holding Kile like this because it really shows how big they BOTH are getting. Konnor turns 11 in September. He is doing amazing in school, made the honor roll both of the first two trimesters, and loves his friends. He is showing quite an interest in basketball lately, too!

Jeff took Emma to an Avs game for her 7th birthday. We happened to get two extra tickets so the boys took those seats while Emma sat with Jeff. They all had a good time. The kids love to get Dippin Dots at Avs games. It's their special treat!

Emma with her stepdad! She was so excited!

Kile is 9 months old!

Here are some of the latest "just for fun" shots we have of Kile. He loves to smile for the camera and now that he can crawl, pull up on furniture, and "pose" he especially enjoys it!!! He is growing very strong and getting big FAST! He likes regular people food and turns his nose up to a lot of his baby food now. He cut his fifth tooth this month (his third on the bottom) and we are expecting #6 any day now. We're not sure how much he weighs but would guess he's about 21 pounds now. He is finally getting some hair, most noticeably in the back of his head. He turns 10 months old on May 11th.

Easter Day with the Avs

Jeff got 10 free lower-level tickets to the Easter Day Avs game so we made a ham dinner early in the day and then took the whole family.

Konnor likes to hold his baby brother on his lap.

David enjoys teasing Evan but I'm not so sure I can say that Evan enjoys being teased by his big brother!

Here's (most of) the family. Unfortunately, we were too big to fit in one picture. Christina's husband, David, was cut off at the end and then it goes Emma, Christina, Suzie (a cousin), David, Evan, Konnor, my seat, Kile, and Jeff. Good times!

First trip to the zoo

We had to ride the train our first time to the Denver Zoo. Kile giggled and bounced on my lap the whole way!

Out to dinner

Jeff absolutely loves to visit the Northwoods Inn, the restaurant he proposed at. This was Kile's first visit and he absolutely loved it!

Hmmmm...I think I see the family resemblance!

One final shot to leave you with!

Oh yeah!

Family Dinner

We FINALLY had a big family dinner (Grandma made her fantastic chicken & gravy!) and we got some great shots of all the family together. Christina & her husband David joined us (Christina turns 27 this April), David turns 18 in May (he just got his driver's license and drove down to our house for the first time for dinner), Evan turned 15 in February and hurt his shoulder in a hockey game, Konnor is 10, Emma is 7 next month, and Kile just turned 8 months. We had a fun time together that night. We love our family!!!!!!

The latest in the Broome household...

We've had a fun and busy few weeks. Konnor had his Blue & Gold and earned more advancements and had a great night. Kile turned 8 months on March 11th and cut his third and fourth teeth (the two top teeth) and was my little monster there for a while. He had his first cold, got his first ouch with a scab on his nose, Grandma came to visit and took the Konnor & Emma to Disney On Ice, and Kile got some fun time with Daddy watching the Avs.

More shots from Phoenix

Konnor begged us to go to In & Out Burger while we were in Phoenix and bet Jeff he could eat a double and, after succeeding, is certain he could manage a triple just fine. Maybe if we starve him for a few days.... Just kidding.
We enjoyed some fun times at Makutu's Island as well. The kids loved running around that place!
